Meowth (unfinished)

Final one for today. This is a quick picture of a Meowth (Pokemon) that was done as a character drawing test. It's not finished. Dieuw and I will be working together to produce a short, tongue-in-cheek Pokemon comic for the same people who published our 'Here Be Dragons' comic. The main characters are going to be Meowth and Piplup, and it will involve a wish, musical instruments, and jelly.

Arineath

A daft little sketch of my tauren (from World of Warcraft) and her hat. She's a herbalist, so she likes to pick flowers ... and who's going to notice if one or two are missing, eh? ;3

Solenka and Savitri

The two girls (two of our other RP characters) giving each other some much-needed comfort. I seem to be drawing a lot of elves lately. Anatomy's still a little shaky - I think I'm going to have to find some medical journals or something, start getting to grips with it properly.

Sketchies

This is the sketch of the Bash/Elka image. The anatomy's slightly different from the coloured version, as I edited some bits and pieces as I was working on the Photoshop lineart.

Bash and Elka (unfinished)

Another Bash and Elka image. This was sketched at work and coloured in Photoshop, and remains unfinished. It was done for Dieuw and my one year anniversary, and I only got the idea of drawing it a day or so before, so the colouring was done in about an evening and a half. When I get a few hours to spare, I'll finish the colouring. The anatomy's still a little off, but I'm positive I'm getting better the more I study and draw people (or elves).

Bash and Elka, by ... Bash and Elka.

These are some unedited sketches I drew at work (you can even see the picture of the other side of the scrap paper I used). These are my partner's and my RP characters. The left image is Elka, drawn by Bash, listing a few of the things he's noticed about her. The image to the right is Bash, drawn by Elka. I tried to make the styles different, but they ended up being a little too similar for my liking. Something I think I'll try to edit in the future. (**edited, and chopped the image in two. Now, the top one is Elka, the bottom one is Bashirian :3 **)

Horsey-minotaur concept

Again, this is a character concept for my project 'A World of Books'. He'll be sitting in there reading a really tiny book.

Photobucket

I wanted a minotaur in there, but I ended up drawing him more horse-y and tribal, instead of as a bull.

Photobucket

I gave him horns (because horns are awesome), and completely forgot to draw in his braids in the painting (because I'm silly).

Photobucket

He'll probably be more of a skewbald colouration / patterning in the final painting.

Owl-Dragon Concept Sketches

I've been playing around with some character design sketches for Ziggurat - a character belonging to Dieuwertje de Winkel. These vary quite considerably from her own final ideas, but I wanted to see if I could make him work as a character for me in my style. He's a sort of owl/dragon/thing cross, and we both agreed that the Eastern Screech owl had the best face type to use as reference for him.

Photobucket

Getting Ziggy's expressions right were my most important concern - he's a comical character, and so it is very necessary for facial expression and movement to be possible and easy. I picked three of his most key expressions (happy, miffed and scared/surprised).

Photobucket

I chose to elaborate on two of the expressions, and drew concepts for his body posture for them as well.

Photobucket

This Ziggy I think looks more fierce than scared, so the posture might need changing for that particular expression.

Photobucket

I am using Ziggy in a poster design at the moment, and he will be alongside many other fantasy characters, all reading books. I'm still deciding what his 'book reading position' will be.
